R-Time

R-Time at Pippins School is a structured programme used across Marish Academy Trust to strengthen relationships and improve education . Rooted in the belief that positive relationships underpin successful learning, R-Time focuses on developing courtesy, cooperation, communication and respect. Pupils work in randomly selected pairs during each session, taking part in short, purposeful activities that promote turn-taking, fairness and thoughtful listening . Clear expectations are established from the outset, including the three core rules: show respect and good manners at all times, follow instructions with thought and care, and care for everyone and everything .

Each session follows a consistent structure of rule-setting, random pairing, meet and greet, activity, reflection and positive closure . This predictable format helps pupils feel safe and confident while building essential social and emotional skills. Through regular participation, children develop resilience, empathy and self-regulation, contributing to a calm, respectful and inclusive school culture where every child feels valued and supported .
